I am so looking forward to going to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show next month. Definitely the best in Australia, this show never fails to show the new and exciting in gardens.
Here are some of the highlights from 2016, just to give you a taste of what is to come.
Probably one of my favorite gardens was this one by Ian Barker Gardens
In the last few years, designers have begun to use the lakes scattered through Carlton Gardens to showcase their abilities and I think this one really succeeds. Following the trends for more informal settings within a carefully structured design, this garden is very sophisticated.
Just look at the planting and as for the little boat house complete with boat – serene…
That swing is actually hanging on the frame of another steel gazebo on the other side of the lake. I am sure we all feel as though we hang over an abyss from time to time. And need the stepping stones across the lake to take us to the safe haven on the other side.
Florists at work
And never forget what the florists have to offer. I think this year the displays were wonderful.
Look at the floral fashion displays.
And some of the wonderful large floral displays – most of these will look divine as screens in any garden.
This one by Katie Marx…
And this vibrant number by The Floral McGyver
And this beautiful screen by the students from Marjorie Milner College.
Get yourself there this year and check out how gardens are growing
